Ayon pa kay Catriona, “It’s really unfortunate that the public still finds a need to tear a woman down in that way. We’re campaigning so hard that a beauty queen or a titlist or Miss Universe should be more than an image. And she is not limited by what her body shape is. She is a spokesperson at the end of the day.”

“She’s effectively doing her role as a Miss Universe and I feel that she should be celebrated. Because what message do we send to other young girls or young people in the public or even on social media when they read those comments and then perhaps compare their bodies.”

“There’s nothing nice that comes out of this. So let’s just not use derogatory terms in that way. Let’s celebrate women. We should celebrate women for what they give to the table.”

“I would encourage those young women to remember what that dream was. There will come a time that it’s time to dream again and to continue towards that. Even if it’s small increments at a time. But I understand the feeling of “maybe it’s not my time” or “maybe it’s passed already”. It hasn’t passed.”

“And that’s what I want to encourage everyone watching here. Your time has not passed. Your time is still here. And it’s just up to you to continue going towards that.”
